H3G Austria deploys Actix' UMTS optimisation solution

October 12, 2004

Actix, the provider of wireless network performance engineering solutions, announced that Hutchison 3G Austria, one of the first operators in the world to launch a commercial UMTS network, selected Actix' UMTS wireless performance engineering. Actix' UMTS solution enables Hutchison 3G Austria to perform unified analysis of network and handset data gathered by different vendors' equipment and software, enabling the most effective identification of network and mobile handset issues.

Actix wireless performance engineering solutions are entirely vendor independent and enable operators to analyze raw wireless network data from a mix of network technologies, systems and data collection solutions in fine detail. This gives an end-to-end picture of vital wireless functions and the quality of service delivery from the subscriber's perspective; it also enables engineers to 'drill down' to the root cause of any deficiencies.

"Actix' UMTS post-processing solution enables us to easily determine where problems relating to customer experience and network efficiency are located. For example, whether the cause of a problem stems from the radio access network, or whether it is to do with the handsets. Version two of the Actix UMTS solution, which we deployed at the beginning of this year, enables us to bring together enormous data log files generated by the different vendors' equipment and software we use. This gives us the ability to gain an integrated picture of how we can best optimize the efficiency of our network and the delivery of 3G services to our customers." says Berthold Thoma, CEO Hutchison 3G Austria.
